However, his notion that one can not rationally explain suicide bombing is challenged by U of C prof. Robert Pape and his Chicago Project on Suicide Terrorism (cpost.uchicago.edu). According to Pape's research "98% of suicide bombers act with the specific intent to persuade a democratic nation to remove it's military forces from land the bomber considers his homeland or is very important to him." On the other hand, according to the ISIS online mag, Dabiq, their goal is apocalyptic. On the other hand the author/historian Karen Armstrong says "all fundamentalism is rooted in a fear of extinction." That thought gives me sympathy for IS and the KKK and the Christian ID folks b/c their fears are justified. The world they knew IS crumbling around them. Our side won with the 18th century enlightenment. Sez me. 2015-11-23T23:39:20Z Comment by AnitaB Thank you for this podcast, I believe I now have some understanding of The Islamic Cult, who call themselves ISIS 2015-11-22T15:54:59Z Comment by Jeff Schurdell Great educational listen.
